1978
Origin

In 1978, the founder Chen Chen-Hwa, founded Hwa Meei Eyewear in a house he rented on Anzhong Road in Tainan City and started Hwa Meei with his wife Chen Wu Mei-Hua and her siblings with the metal frame welding.

1980

In 1980, Hwa Meei moved to the current site of the first plant in Zhonglun and built their own plant. With Taiwan's economic development, by the mid of 1990s, Hwa Meei has also grown into a sunglasses manufacturing plant with more than 100 employees.

1990
Transformation

In the 1990s, the rise of the exchange rate and the costs of salary and land led to Taiwan's westward wave, and Hwa Meei has also experienced many challenges. In 1997, the founder decided to set up a second plant in Xiamen, and Hwa Mao Optical Co., Ltd was founded to keep manufacturing fashionable sunglasses. Meanwhile, Hwa Meei was undertaken by the second generation, who chose to stay in Taiwan to start the transformation by downsizing the business to 80 employees. Since 2000, Hwa Meei has been focusing on manufacturing sports safety glasses and has obtained ISO9001 certification.

2000
Start Again

Since 2000, Hwa Meei has decided to " become the ODM of the world's well-known brand of sports or safety glasses" and established the business philosophy to be innovative, pragmatic, responsible and sharing to restart. In 2006, the lens production line was imported. In 2007 Zhonglun plant 2 was established, and Hwa Meei Eyewear was officially renamed Hwa Meei Optical. Its lens and glasses production line kept expanding and the first ISO17025/ IEC certified eyewear professional laboratory was built. By early 2010, Hwa Meei has had more than 400 employees in Taiwan.

2002
Development Of

The 720 armour, which was acquired in 2002, has become Taiwan's top three brands of sports glasses by the early 2010s. In order to provide more complete services, Hwa Meei integrated CRX corrective lens production lines and mold manufacturing. In 2016, the eyewear optometrist and sales base in the tourism factory Eye Fun Vision was established. Realize the complete integration of the value chain of the eyewear industry. In 2015 and 2020, the plants of the first and second phases in the Tree Valley Park were respectively completed so that Hwa Meei can have a better basis for development.

2018
Future

In 2018, Hwa Meei had a new vision “To build up a great team, To improve the utilization of resources continuously, And become a trusted sports vision expert for our customers". With the scientific innovation and the rapid changes driven by the environment in the world, Hwa Meei has been not only focusing on the visual optics industry and strengthening the team's ability but also developing new technologies and refining operating systems. Hwa Meei has created greater results with fewer resources to provide higher value-added integrated services to our partners and practiced the mission that " we produce not only glasses but also happiness." so that partners/shareholders in the company, as well as our customers, the communities and the society, can feel happy because of the existence of Hwa Meei Optical.
